This impressive XXL monograph offers an in-depth look at the work of the groundbreaking artist Jean-Michel Basquiat (1960-1988). Originally known as a street artist under the pseudonym SAMO, he quickly made a name for himself in New York's vibrant art scene of the 1980s. With a unique style that combines text, image and historical references, his paintings reflect his personal experiences as a black artist and often address political and social issues.
His works are like visual diaries celebrating jazz legends, boxers and street heroes. Basquiat worked with greats like Andy Warhol and made it to the cover of the New York Times Magazine. Despite his early death at the age of 27, his works have lost none of their dynamism and power to this day.
The monograph allows for the study of Basquiat's complex visual language in detail and includes outstanding reproductions of his art. The image catalogue is complemented by an introduction by editor Hans Werner Holzwarth and an essay by art historian Eleanor Nairne, who sheds light on Basquiat's artistic development and his thematic depth.

We charge a flat shipping fee of €4.90 within Germany (regardless of the number of packages). You can also have the goods delivered to a DHL Packstation.
