Jean Michel Basquiat begann seine Karriere Ende der 1970er Jahre unter dem Namen SAMO in der New Yorker Street Art Szene. Seine frühen Werke bestanden aus provokativen Textfragmenten und Symbolen im urbanen Raum. Mit dem Übergang in die etablierte Kunstwelt entwickelte er einen unverwechselbaren Stil aus expressiven Figuren Worten und symbolischen Bildstrukturen. Themen wie Identität Geschichte Politik Jazz Sport und das Leben auf der Straße prägen sein Werk.
Bereits Anfang der 1980er Jahre wurde Basquiat in renommierten Galerien ausgestellt und international bekannt. Die Zusammenarbeit mit Andy Warhol sowie sein rascher Aufstieg machten ihn zu einer der zentralen Figuren der zeitgenössischen Kunst. Trotz seines frühen Todes im Alter von 27 Jahren gilt er bis heute als prägende Ikone der modernen Kunst.
Diese Ausgabe enthält hochwertige Reproduktionen seiner Gemälde Zeichnungen und Skizzen aus Notizbüchern. Ergänzt wird der Band durch Texte des Herausgebers Hans Werner Holzwarth sowie einen Essay der Kuratorin Eleanor Nairne die Werk und Entwicklung Basquiats im historischen Kontext einordnen.

How much are the shipping costs?
We charge a flat shipping fee of €4.90 within Germany (regardless of the number of packages). You can also have the goods delivered to a DHL Packstation.
For orders over €49.90, shipping is free.
