Vintage storybook illustrations from the early Disney years

In the 1940s and 1950s, Disney artists popularized children's illustrations—both on screen and in the Golden Books , an award-winning children's book series. These stories encapsulated the visual language of Disney films and brought historical and contemporary fairy tales to life through original artwork.

The selection of materials in this volume, featuring stories from seven artists, reflects the diversity of stylistic approaches that shaped animation and illustration at the Disney Studio.

Kenneth Shue joined The Walt Disney Company in 1995 and led Global Art and Design Development for over 27 years. He oversaw projects for Disney Animation Studios, Pixar, Marvel, and Lucasfilm and received the Disney Publishing Leadership Award .
